Kenneth Rivera of JM Fiber Optics is a finalist for the 2008 Spirit of the Entrepreneur Award

(November 15, 2008) The Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship (IECE) at Cal State San Bernardino nominated Kenneth G. Rivera as a finalist in the category Technology Entrepreneur for the 2008 Spirit of the Entrepreneur Awards program. The award recipients and nominees were recognized at the November 12 black-tie gala at the Riverside Convention Center. Mr. Rivera was selected as one of the three entrepreneurs for technological contributions that lead to the exceptional growth and performance of a high tech company. His distinction came from the development of an advanced mass transit digital signage system called TransitVUE Transportation Passenger Information System (TPIS), which the Los Angeles County Metro is currently using on the Red Line.

The purpose of this award is to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of the Inland Empires top entrepreneurial business leaders. Since the establishment of the Spirit of the Entrepreneur Awards program in 2003, more than 100 entrepreneurs were honored as finalists and over 40 nominees has received the Spirit Award. This program brings entrepreneurs, business, and community leaders from every part of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties to celebrate the entrepreneurial success stories, which drive our local economy and serve as roles models for aspiring entrepreneurs. The proceeds from the Gala Awards Ceremony support the next generation of Inland Empire entrepreneurs through the Spirit of the Entrepreneur Scholarship fund for undergraduate business or MBA students from Cal State San Bernardino.
